Press Conference ahead of the Tour de France in Denmark

27june

Tivoli and Grand Départ Copenhagen Denmark invite you to join a press conference in Tivoli where General Director of the Tour de France, Christian Prudhomme, will talk about his expectations for the three stages in Denmark.

Sophie Hæstorp Andersen, chairman of the board, will present her perspective on the importance of the Tour de France in Denmark. The press conference will take place at the foot of Tivoli's newly built 13-meter-high Eiffel Tower - especially made for the occasion. The press will also be updated on the latest news regarding the program for the team presentation in Copenhagen and Tivoli on July 29.

The press conference will take place on June 27 on The Lawn from 14.00 - to 15:30

A few days before the first rider takes off on Nørre Farimagsgade the organizers of the world’s greatest cycling race will talk about their expectations for the three stages in Denmark. They will also reveal the final details of the team presentation in Copenhagen and Tivoli. At the same time, the press will get a sneak peek at Tivoli's beautiful decorations made especially for the presentation.

General Director Christian Prudhomme and others will discuss the importance of welcoming the Tour de France in Scandinavia for the first time. The attending press is also welcome to address questions and to find out more about the plans and hopes ahead of the Tour de France 2022.
And finally, it will be revealed which world-renowned Danish artist will perform at the presentation.

The following people will be participating and are available to the press on the day:

  • Christian Prudhomme, General Director of the Tour de France
  • Sophie Hæstorp Andersen, Chairman of the Board of Grand Départ Copenhagen Denmark, and Mayor of Copenhagen
  • Susanne Mørch Koch, Tivoli CEO
  • Rolf Sørensen (former rider, tour-expert)

Celebration in Copenhagen

There will be plenty of opportunities to wish the Danish star riders good luck before they compete to win the exclusive yellow jersey in Denmark. A truly historic moment.  Fans can do this at the approx. 1.5-kilometer closed route through inner Copenhagen, where the teams pay tribute before riding onto the stage in Tivoli. This will be the start of the enormous celebration that will unfold in Copenhagen and all of Denmark. TV2 will be broadcasting the show to the whole world.

The team presentation is a collaboration between the City of Copenhagen, Grand Départ Copenhagen Denmark, TV2, and Tivoli. This is the first time ever that Tour de France stages are run in Scandinavia.
