Press briefing: Power-to-X - Denmark and the European energy race

The International Press Centre (IPC) in Denmark is delighted to invite media to the press briefing ‘Power-to-X (PtX) – Denmark and the European energy race’ on Wednesday 19 May from 11:00 – 12:30 CEST.

Transforming green energy from wind power to fuel trucks, ships and airplanes is seen as one of the key components on Denmark’s path towards a carbon neutral future.

Danish industry believes Denmark has the infrastructure and expertise to use the “Power-to-X” technology in a large scale. New so-called “energy islands” in Danish waters can enable the technology on a large scale in the future. However, Denmark is not the only European country trying to lead a PtX rollout.

At the briefing speakers from the organization Danish Energy and the companies Ørsted and Maersk provide an up-to-date status. How far is Denmark on PtX investments and strategy? What are Denmark’s strengths and weaknesses in the European energy race? And finally, what is the potential of PtX viewed from large energy producer Ørsted and buyer Maersk?

This will be followed by a Q&A.

The speakers are:

Martin Dam Wied

PtX Teamleader, Danish Energy

Ulrik Stridbæk

Head of Regulatory Affairs, Ørsted

Morten Bo Christiansen

Head of Decarbonisation, A.P. Moller - Maersk
